The Hematology Department of Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen University is a key clinical medical specialty in Xiamen, integrating medical treatment, teaching, and research.  It is also a standardized training base for resident physicians and a national clinical trial base for drugs.  It is a discipline for training master's and doctoral students in clinical medicine at Xiamen University and Fujian Medical University.  The department is divided into two treatment units: the Hematological Disease Ward and the Stem Cell Transplantation Ward.  It has 73 general beds, 9 laminar flow beds, and 5 laminar flow wards for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.  There are 9 doctors with senior professional titles, including 1 doctoral supervisor and 4 master's supervisors.

The department is the first unit to carry out stem cell transplantation in Fujian Province.  There is a separate transplant ward and transplant medical team.  In the past 20 years, he has completed nearly 400 cases of various hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and accumulated rich experience in the fields of unrelated stem cell transplantation, cord blood stem cell transplantation, and semi-matched transplantation in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and hereditary blood diseases.  It is a transplant hospital certified by China Bone Marrow Bank, Taiwan Tzu Chi Bone Marrow Bank Stem Cell Center, and China Cord Blood Bank.  Hematopoietic stem cell technology is leading in the province and has reached an advanced level in China.  In the past five years, we have carried out stem cell transplantation treatment for children with thalassemia, completed more than 100 cases of stem cell transplantation of thalassemia, and the long-term survival rate is greater than 95%.  It ranks among the top ten transplantation centers in China and has become one of the important thalassemia treatment centers in China.  It has won many national and provincial science and technology projects and won the Xiamen Science and Technology Award three times.
